GOVERNMENT MANOEUVRES TO HOODWINK THE STRIKERS OF ASHA

Just a few days before the strike the government hastily issued a circular stating that there would be a Rs.10 increase in TA/DA on ASHA Day; if the ASHA worker stays for 48 hours with a woman has delivered a baby Rs.200 was offered. Soon after the strike began, it was reported in the media that a GO was in the offing for Rs.1200 -2000 and finally, if ASHAs do not report on ASHA day i.e. on 27.12.10, they will be replaced with new recruits.

The ASHA workers brushed all these aside and stood steadfast in the strike.
