ON July 28, 2011, Ramakant Goswami, the labour minister of Delhi, assured that the Delhi government would set up a committee to oversee the implementation of the Majithia Wage Board recommendations as soon as the central government notifies it.
Speaking to a delegation of the Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) which urged him to introduce a pension scheme for journalists on the pattern of schemes existing in Kerala and some other states, Gowami assured that he would ask his officials to study the schemes and do whatever is possible in this regard.
The delegation comprising DUJ general secretary S K Pande, vice president Dinesh Chandra, Vijendra Tyagi (president, Association of Accredited News Cameramen) and some other journalists also urged him to ensure that managements do not resort to unfair labour practices to circumvent the wage board recommendations.
